What Take-Two has said
Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, has addressed this a few times in 2026:
- February 2026: CEO Strauss Zelnick said he had every reason to believe Take-Two would keep supporting GTA Online after GTA 6 releases.
- August 2026 (earnings call): Zelnick said GTA Online's update schedule has been stable, that Take-Two still puts significant resources into it, and that it expects to keep supporting it.
- September 2026 (shareholder meeting): Take-Two said "GTA 6 is a single-player title and is due to release this November," and repeated that GTA Online support would continue after GTA 6 releases.
Official store listings for GTA 6 also describe it as a single-player experience.
So is there a GTA 6 Online?
Not officially. Rockstar hasn't announced a GTA 6 Online mode, a "GTA Online 2", or how any future online game would relate to the current one. That means:
- Nothing says you'll be able to play GTA 6 online on November 19.
- Nothing says the current GTA Online will be replaced or shut down.
- Any GTA 6 Online date you see, including 2027 predictions, is speculation.
Has Rockstar done this before?
With GTA 5, the online mode came later: GTA 5 launched on September 17, 2013, and GTA Online followed on October 1, 2013. That's history, not a prediction — Rockstar hasn't said whether GTA 6 will follow a similar pattern.
